TORONTO - Esteemed Prairies folksinger Joni Mitchell will attend this year's Luminato Festival.

The 69-year-old, who infrequently appears in public, will take part in an onstage interview and also plans to attend a two-day celebration of her music at the annual Toronto arts festival, according to organizers.

On June 16, she'll take the stage with collaborator Brian Blade for an interview with New York Times music critic Jon Pareles, which will be webcast live.

She'll also be present for "Joni: A Portrait in Song," which will celebrate her upcoming 70th birthday with performances June 18 and 19.

The lineup for those showcases includes Grammy winner Chaka Khan, Oscar winner Glen Hansard, Ottawa singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards and Canadian festival fixture Rufus Wainwright. The June 19 concert will also feature 14-time Grammy winner Herbie Hancock and jazz singer Esperenza Spalding.
