Los Angeles, CA, November 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Call it a labor of love.

Call it the portrait of a true legend.

Call it an absorbing overview of one man's incredible journey and the many, many passengers who joyfully came aboard for the ride, and call it one of the most engaging artist documentaries you will ever see.

It's called Jaco - A Documentary Film and after five years of blood, sweat, tears and treasures, this eagerly - anticipated movie biopic is largely complete. And now the film's producers, Robert Trujillo of Metallica and Passion Pictures (Searching For Sugarman) have partnered with PledgeMusic to further engage with fans on the project.

A compelling story of prodigious talent, self-taught adventures and raw human vulnerability, Jaco - A Documentary Film presents the world of Jaco Pastorius, who via his adventures with the electric bass, plus his genial qualities as a composer and performer, both reinvented and inspired a plethora of legends from Sting (The Police) to Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) to Trujillo himself.

"I saw Jaco at the Santa Monica Civic in 1979, and he blew my young mind away," enthuses the film's main driver, "so for me, Jaco - A Documentary Film is the absolute definition of a labor of love. He was such an integral figure for so many musicians, yet few outside the world of jazz and rock know much about him. I had to change that given that he basically changed my life." Directed by Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak, Jaco - A Documentary Film includes interviews with a wide array of legendary musicians, from Herbie Hancock to Wayne Shorter to Joni Mitchell to Bootsy Collins, and was made with the full involvement and cooperation of the Pastorius family. Jaco - A Documentary Film contains incredible unseen footage and photography procured by Gregory and Johnny Pastorius, providing exclusive archival support to further augment this engaging story. A rough cut screening of Jaco - A Documentary Film took place in October 2014 at the 37th Mill Valley Film Festival in California, where it was enthusiastically received by a sold-out audience.
