Joni Mitchell made a rare public appearance at Elton John's 70th birthday party on Saturday, almost two years after she suffered a brain aneurysm.

The Big Yellow Taxi singer was pictured arriving in a wheelchair to Elton's star-studded bash at Los Angeles' The Hammer Museum on Saturday.

Joni, who looked in good spirits, reportedly got out of the chair to make the short walk to her waiting car when leaving Elton's party, according to the Daily Mail.

The 73-year-old has rarely appeared in public since she was rushed to hospital after collapsing at her home in March, 2015.

She is now reportedly well on the road to recovery, having made her first major trip out last August to attend a Chick Corea gig.

Since her hospitalization, details about Joni's condition have been scarce, but her friend, the folk singer Judy Collins, gave an update on Facebook in October, 2015.

"I have just heard from a close mutual friend that Joni is walking, talking, painting some, doing much rehab every day, and making good progress," Judy wrote. "I have another friend who went through something similar - it does take a long time."

The star now appears to be going out on more regular outings, as she also attended a star-studded pre-Grammys party last month.

Stars including Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry, Heidi Klum, Dakota Johnson, Matthew Morrison and Ryan Phillippe attended Elton's bash, which also acted as a fundraiser for his AIDS Foundation and the Hammer Museum.
