PRETTY SASKATOON-BORN folk singer Joni Mitchell WILL be appearing at a Toronto coffee house.
The Telegram on Monday reported that Joni had been denied work by Toronto's coffee house owners despite her successes at the past two Mariposa Folk festivals.
Bernie Fiedler, owner of the Riverboat on Yorkville ave., said last night that he has signed her for a two-week engagement later this year.
"I think she's just great," he said.
Joni, who has written two songs which will be included in the latest Ian and Sylvia album, has been living in Detroit and performing throughout Michigan since she married Detroit folksinger Chuck Mitchell last year.
During that time, club owners had told her to call them when she was "ready." One owner told her he would hire her - as a waitress.
"The dates for her appearance haven't been settled yet, but we have concluded a deal," Mr. Fiedler said.
