THE HUSBand and wife team of Chuck and Joni Mitchell was in town last week playing opposite each other in different clubs. Joni was at the Riverboat, and Chuck held forth at the 7 of Clubs.

This was really not unusual. They are not a duo, but do try to travel together whenever possible.

"We tried singing together at the beginning, but it just didn't work out," Joni explained. "I think our egos got the better of us," she added.

They are a business team, though. With the help of friends the Mitchells have formed their own publishing and production company. Any of the songs either one of them writes is put out by their own company and, where possible, produced by it.

"It has taken us almost a year to set this up and finally we got everything completed this month," Chuck explained. "Now that the business part is taken care of we can both concentrate on our writing and performing, without any of the worries we had before. We have a good solid foundation now."

Both Mitchells compose, but it is Joni who has been getting the attention from other performers for her writing.
