Canada's Joni Mitchell has done it all. The veteran singer songwriter has turned out hit singles, hit albums and written a ton of tunes for other performers. Now the "Lady Of The Canyon" will receive her just reward: a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award.

Mitchell's in pretty good company, joining an elite few who have qualified for the prize, which she'll receive when the Grammys are handed out next February. Among those also being lauded: Count Basie, Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney and Al Green.

Academy president Michael Greene calls the recipients "diverse and influential creators who have given us some of the most distinctive and seminal recordings of the last century." That certainly fits Mitchell, who's hit the charts with classics like "Big Yellow Taxi", "You Turn Me On, I'm A Radio", "Help Me", and "Carey".

Others have also covered her songs, creating hits in their own right. Among them: Crosby, Stills and Nash's ode to the world's most revered rock concert "Woodstock", and Judy Collins' classic "Both Sides Now".
