Tributes & Events

In 2015, the first Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prizes were awarded to the best albums of the last five decades as chosen by a jury and public vote:

Blue by Joni Mitchell (‘60s and ‘70s) The Trinity Session by the Cowboy Junkies (‘80s) Twice Removed by Sloan (‘90s) The Teaches of Peaches by Peaches (2000-2005).

We’re celebrating these records, which represent a solid musical foundation upon which our national music legacy rests, with a musical tribute, creating a unique evening that will link them all.

The event features the Massey Hall Band, bringing their inventive approach to these classics of CanCon, alongside Polaris-nominated guests including Peaches, Chris Murphy and Jay Ferguson from Sloan, The Weather Station (2015, Loyalty), Tanika Charles (2016, Soul Run), Amelia Curran (2010, Hunter, Hunter), Michelle McAdorey (2016, Into Her Future) and more. It's all hosted by CBC's Rich Terfry – himself a two-time Polaris Prize nomine. More info
