STANLEY DORFMAN'S new BBC-2 series "Sounds For Saturday" — which, as previously reported, starts transmission on March 25 — has been extended and will now run right through the summer until mid-September, giving a total of 25 shows in all. Additional artists who will be showcased in the series include Stephen Stills, Joni Mitchell, Don McLean, CCS, Judee Sill, Paul Williams, John Denver, the Modern Jazz Quartet and the Count Basie Orchestra. Remaining names, including Aretha Franklin, are still being finalised.

•Running order of the first 12 editions of the series were reported in the NME five weeks ago. Highlights include the Faces (April 1), Tom Paxton (22), Elton John (29), Richie Havens (May 13), Osibisa (27) and the 5th Dimension (June 3).

•Glen Campbell guests in BBC-1's "Top Of The Pops" on Thursday, March 23, in addition to filming his own BBC-TV special (exclusively revealed last week) on March 26.

•Mary Travers' previously-reported BBC-TV series starts filming on June 2. There will be six shows, each of 45 minutes' duration. It will feature big-name guest artists (including Don McLean), as well as British folk artists who will be filmed on location in the provinces.

•Kris Kristofferson, Ray Stevens, Shirley Bassey, Price and Fame, Blue Mink and Buddy Greco are among guests booked for Rolf Harris' new London Weekend series which commences on Saturday, April 22, for seven weeks. Also set are Cleo Laine, Val Dooniean, Roger Whittaker and New World.

•Peter Noone will again be the resident singer in a new ten-week series of BBC-1 Mike Yarwood shows, for transmission from Friday, May 19.
