(3/20/03, 12 p.m. ET) -- Vanessa Carlton and her labelmates the Counting Crows have a hit on their hands with their collaborative cover of "Big Yellow Taxi," the 1970 classic from Joni Mitchell.

When asked what made her decide to participate in the recording of the song, Carlton said that she was really touched by Crows vocalist Adam Duritz's performance on the track. "I mean, I love the song," Carlton said. "It's a great song, and I love Adam's voice. I thought it was great--his voice on that song in particular was...I don't know. It was just very moving to me."

Carlton said that, despite her considerable contribution to the revamped song, she doesn't really consider it a duet. "I don't really consider it a duet, but I did do my little humming on there," Carlton said. "I don't know...I can't take too much credit for the song at all."

"Big Yellow Taxi" is currently Number 11 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart.
