SANTA MONICA, Calif. (CP) -- Joni Mitchell's bestselling album Court and Spark, The Beatles' song Let It Be and Mickey and Sylvia's 1957 song Love Is Strange are among the latest additions to the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The recordings were among 33 added for 2004. The complete list, considered the U.S. Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences's most important and lasting songs and albums, now includes 639 titles.
Mitchell's 1974 Court and Spark includes the hit Help Me and Free Man in Paris.
Among the 33 new entries: Carly Simon's song You're So Vain, the soundtrack to 1977's film Saturday Night Fever, Frank Sinatra's I've Got the World on a String and Billy Joel's hit Just The Way You Are.
"They exemplify the best qualities that make the recording arts such a vital part of our culture," said Neil Portnow, the Academy's president, in a statement. "Each not only uniquely reflects the zeitgeist of its time, but also possesses the enduring power of transcending time."
The Hall of Fame was established in 1973 to honour recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance. Recordings must be at least 25 years old to be considered.
Winners are selected by a special member committee of eminent and knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts.
