A Night of Joni Mitchell, Cahoes NY, March 11

Posted February 27, 2023

Four of the region’s strongest female lead voices will celebrate Joni Mitchell‘s music at Cohoes Music Hall on March 11. On a not to be missed night, the four women will come together to celebrate Mitchell’s memorable career.

Local greats Belle-Skinner, Zan & the Winter Folk, Hold on Honeys, and Girl Blue will perform her beloved music in their own voices at the Hall. Each of these women has emerged in Nippertown as a strong artist in their own right and will combine forces to recreate the magic of Mitchell’s music starting at 8 pm.

Zan Strumfeld, now of the Winter folk but previously a solo artist is well beloved for lullabies and ballads, as well as bluegrass and rock. Herself a compelling figure on stage, Zan’s presence commands attention that will lend itself well to Mitchell’s vibe.

Belle-Skinner has a soprano voice that she lends to music to create nostalgia for the listener, and she’s been compared to Mitchell by reviewers. Her music is described as both haunting and beautiful, capturing the essence of melodic lyrics.

Newcomers Hold On Honeys will bring a younger vibe to this concert. The trio of women from Troy, Emily Curro, Raya Malcolm, and Shannon Rafferty sing three-part harmony with show stopping accuracy and beauty.

And finally, Girl Blue, Troy’s Arielle O’Keefe, will add a sexy and powerful voice to the mix. If you’ve heard Girl Blue before, you’ve likely cried, jumped, and danced all in one set. O’Keefe’s well-known control over her pitch while letting loose with volume and energy should shine some extra magic on the night.
