In a segment with some middle school-aged kids demonstrating their science experiments, there was an 8th grade girl from Illinois whose presentation involved liver and hydrogen peroxide in a blender. Letterman said, "Liver in a Blender, isn't that an old Joni Mitchell song?" When most of the laughter seemed to come from the band, Dave added, "Well, the band likes that one."
