Joni Mitchell: “The Hissing of Summer Lawns” (Asylum). An album that will never crack under the weight of any superlatives bestowed upon it.

A gorgeous collection of songs with thoughtful, literate lyrics, adventurous arrangements – and that voice, crystal clear, troubled, brooding.

The songs seem to be variations on a single theme – how sophisticated civilised society has corrupted us from our natural primitive instincts.

A glittering gem of an album – one to treasure for years.
