This is Joni Mitchell’s tribute to a great man of jazz, mystical maestro Charlie Mingus, who died in January this year.

Mostly Mingus music written for Mitchell lyrics, the album is no doubt an honest statement of mutual respect.

But although she sings jazz as perfectly as she could sing anything, only a Joni devotee could get much joy out of “Mingus”.
