This was the second time I saw Joni in concert (Miles of Aisles tour the first). Irvine was a beautiful venue, but the crowd was rowdy and were there to rock. Joni and band played brilliantly but there was growing impaitience when she moved to more introspectve pieces. The shouts from the audience grew louder and Joni reacted by eventually walking off the stage. Unlike the previous show I had seen, there was no series of encores to be played this night. My wife and I genuinely felt bad for Joni. She played with passion--and she played what she wanted to play. Unfortunately too many in the crowd that night wanted her to be someone else.
