Joni participated in an afternoon Songwriters Workshop
along with James Taylor, Paul Geremia and others.
Joni first met James at Newport, 1969.

I'd just graduated too.(Woburn, Mass)
I think James Brown and Jethro Tull were there as well. So long ago it's just a flash in the pan. (45 years?)
I think they called it "The Newport Jazz Festival" but changed the name that year.
Joni, I think I probably owe you a few bucks, me and my friend snuck in!
We were good at climbing fences in those days! (Thankyou to all the fat cops!)

This must have been the second time! I'd just graduated from high school .It was raining lightly on the field, and there was a plastic bag over the microphone. I remember James and Joni seemed very friendly. I think Joni sang "For Free"! We stayed for the evening concert as well....
