Both Sides Now is a theatrical concert that explores the music and lives of long-time friends and one-time lovers, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Created by, and starring Robbie Schaefer (Eddie From Ohio) and Danielle Wertz, the cabaret traverses decades alongside songs such as A Case of You, Hallelujah, Big Yellow Taxi, Suzanne, and many more. Joni Jam celebrates the legendary catalogue of Joni Mitchell’s music with a well- seasoned band and Grove’s pitch-perfect interpretation of Joni’s unique vocals and even a dulcimer (or two).

Touching on the full breadth of Joni’s works – from 1968’s Song to a Seagull to the jazz-tinged records of 1980’s Shadows and Light all the way up to today with 2023's At Newport – this band hits every note.

Grove, a singer-songwriter in her own right, has won several Asbury Music Awards, and has toured throughout the US, the UK and Europe. Having attended Berklee College of Music, she has a true appreciation of Joni’s jazz explorations as well as her folk classics. She has been performing Joni’s songs since she was 15: at Glen Burtnik’s “Summer of Love” concert, at the “One Last Waltz” show at the Pollack Theater , and as a busker on the Asbury Park boardwalk (as Joni once busked in Toronto). The Joni Project formed as a tribute in sound and spirit to Joni Mitchell, one of music’s greatest and most innovative artists. They are quite simply the finest tribute to Joni on the scene today. From the deep folk roots of her musical beginnings, Joni Mitchell’s music has evolved over the years to include elements of funk, rock and the full palette of harmonic colors embodied by modern jazz. Her innovative guitar tunings and brilliantly original chord progressions were paired with beautifully crafted melodies adorned by lyrics of unmatched poetic profundity to create some of the most powerfully enduring and well-loved songs of all time.

The Joni Project is fronted by the remarkable multi-instrumentalist and singer Katie Pearlman. She impressively plays Joni’s songs in their original open guitar tunings. Katie is also known throughout the northeast as a singer/songwriter, as well as for being half of the duo The Grateful Girls, an acoustic tribute to The Grateful Dead. After selling out the April show at the Fret House in Covina, California, JK Jones & the High Tones are reprising the Joni Tribute Show at the iconic Kulak's Woodshed in Los Angeles. Josie McDonough and Mike Ridley have meticulously developed their own versions of their favourite Joni Mitchell songs. By combining the artist’s most popular recordings with lesser-known personal choices, The Joni Project proves to be as enlightening and surprising as it is entertaining and nostalgic. The duo have no desire to emulate Mitchell’s very unique, even inimitable sound and style. The Joni Project is much more about inspiration than emulation. It enables two fine and experienced performers to take what they love most about Joni’s songs and make them their own.

Both Josie and Mike are experienced musicians and have strong music backgrounds. Mike is a multi-instrumentalist playing acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, violin, piano, melodeon and clarinet. A song writer, arranger and MD his music output covers many genres including Blues, Folk, Rock, Jazz, Classical and Americana. He is well known throughout the Northeast having worked with many of the best local musicians.

Josie started her career in music with a Decca recording contract. She spent most of her teens promoting her pop singles on TV and radio throughout Europe before giving it all up for a sensible career in teaching! She has performed as lead vocalist in various Rock, Folk and Jazz bands in the Northeast but has held a long term desire to perform the early music of Joni Mitchell. More information here

The band features the expressive and soaring voice of Teresa Lorenço. Teresa's vocals pay homage to Joni's sweet, husky, and bell-like voice delivering an emotional journey through Joni's expansive catalog. The Joni Project pays tribute to the sound and spirit of the music of Joni Mitchell, the legendary artist responsible for some of the most powerfully enduring, and well-loved songs of all time.

For this special show, The Joni Project celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the release of Court and Spark, performing the album in its entirety plus a selection of other Joni favorites. Released in January 1974, Court and Spark infused the folk-rock style of Joni’s previous albums with jazz elements, which The Joni Project displays in electrifying and elegant fashion.

The Joni Project is fronted by the remarkable multiple-instrumentalist and songwriter Katie Pearlman on guitar & vocals and The Long Island based band also includes jazz and jamband mainstays Dave Berg on guitar, Dan Ehrlich on bass, Alan Lerner on drums, Mark Mancini on keyboards, Steve Finkelstein on percussion, Premik Russell Tubbs on saxophone and flute, and Victoria Faiella on background vocals. Joni Adno and Friends pay tribute to Joni Mitchell. Joni has been singing since she can remember. Encouraged by her drummer/vocalist father, she began singing duets with her imaginary friend Ricky Nelson on the front porch when she was 4, then graduated to the Presbyterian Choir, junior and senior high chorus. Piano lessons turned into a degree from the University of North Florida in Music Education with a Piano Minor. She sang for friends, weddings, and private affairs until 2005 when her dream of being in a real band came true and she joined up with the Sarasota band Big Night Out, playing keyboards and singing latin, pop, and Motown favorites.

The Joni Project is comprised of saxophone, bass, percussion, keyboards, guitar and vocals, bringing to life the best of Joni Mitchell’s tunes, from her Song to a Seagull album to Hejira, in her most prolific period from 1960’s to 1978. Celebrating 12 years of "Both Sides Now: The Music of Joni Mitchell," Hannah Reimann's critically acclaimed show has presented over 40 songs from seven albums of the iconic Mitchell's discography since 2012. Her All-Star Band performs authentic versions in their original keys and arrangements from Court and Spark, , Blue, Ladies of the Canyon, Clouds, For the Roses and much more. Reimann is Music Grantee of the Cafe Royal Cultural Foundation and will be performing a few songs featured on her new EP, "Take Me To The Sun," at this show, with thanks to the Foundation for help with the recording. Most of the show will be devoted to hits by Joni including "A Case of You," "Court and Spark," full-band versions of "Rainy Night House" and "Woodstock" from the album, Miles of Aisles, River, and, of course, "Both Sides Now." ‘Hejira’ is a 7-piece band set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell, mostly from the late ‘70s. Having released the albums ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns’, ‘Hejira’, ‘Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter’ and ‘Mingus’ (regarded as her ‘jazz period’), Joni then toured briefly with a band formed from the crème de la crème of contemporaneous jazz musicians (Metheny, Mays, Brecker, Pastorius and Alias). The tour was recorded, producing the outstanding live album, ‘Shadows And Light’; it is from this album that the band Hejira is drawing the body of its repertoire. Comprising highly experienced jazz musicians, this band is fronted by the brilliant Hattie Whitehead who not only has in her own way - assimilated the poise, power and beauty of Joni’s vocals, but also plays guitar with Joni’s stylistic mannerisms. April 21st, 3 pm: Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist KATE FOLEY-BEINING performs the ballads, art songs and jazz of Joni Mitchell backed by guitarist Christian Foley-Beining, bassist Tom Shader, drummer Kendrick Freeman and special guest, the un-paralleled PAUL MCCANDLESS on sax. We were all very impressed when JK Jones did a few Joni Mitchell songs at our Songwriters of Canada show recently, so we invited her to come do a full tribute show. JK will be covering songs from Joni’s Song to a Seagull, Blue, Court and Spark, Hejira, Clouds and For the Roses. This rare event will feature acclaimed song-writer Jay Asher on piano for Joni's "Blue Boy".

JK delivers many originals and true Joni Mitchell covers performed in Joni's original tunings and in Joni's original key. JK regularly performs around LA at various open mics, on YouTube (@JKJonesmusic1), and at various venues including Molly Mallone's, The Lost Chord, Tarzana Community and Cultural Center Singer-Songwriter Night, the Canyon Club, Cinema Bar, The Fret House, and she headlined a Joni Mitchell Tribute concert at the Stardust concert series in May 2023. She is currently putting together a Joni at Carnegie Hall tribute concert.

On her 80th birthday, Roundhouse and Lail Arad announce a celebration of Joni Mitchell; one of the most highly regarded and influential singer-songwriters of the 20th century as part of In The Round Festival. One of the first women in modern rock to achieve enviable longevity and critical recognition, Mitchell has been a major inspiration to music's biggest names including Bob Dylan, Prince, Donna Summers, Bjork, James Blake and Lana Del Rey.

Unfortunately, the Canadian pop icon JONI MITCHELL is far too little known in this country despite being listed by the legendary “Rolling Stone” magazine at number 9 of the 100 best singer/songwriters of all time. We are more familiar with her top hits “This Flight Tonight”, “Big Yellow Taxi”, “Woodstock”, “My Secret Place” and “Both Sides Now”, which are often not associated with her.
